excel - =4810*0.83 gives a drasticly different result to =4810*0.833 - why? -


ive tried run calculation =4810*0.83 in spreadsheet in spotlight bar in mac has calculator built it.

the strange thing in both instances 4810*0.83 = 3992.3 4810*0.833= 4006.73 - idea why ?

0.003 may seem small when consider itself, remember multiplying 4810:

4810*0.83  = 3992.3 4810*0.003 =   14.43 +              ---------               4006.73
