vb.net - SQL Server Express installation required for clients connecting to a server? -


i know if installation of sql server express required on client pcs? have searched fair bit , far i've seen related attached databases or local databases.

here's setup of system.

  • there windows server pc hosting sql server instance.
  • client pcs running vbnet based windows form application connection strings fed table adapters allow them connect server.

now have tested running application on windows 7 pc without sql server express installed , works, connection success , data can retrieved etc. system going run on windows xp when goes live.

so wondering if client pcs require installation of sql server express or sort of dlls able connect server? or .net framework sufficient?

you not require sql instance on client pcs. app can make connection server via connection strings. our app similar in fact support windows xp , sql server 2005 , works without instance on client pcs. install local instance on client used when transferring data laptop can used when disconnected network. hth

i'm trying webgl running on firefox (v37.0.2) via software acceleration mesa. tried following steps have been stated in article: http://www.binarytides.com/enable-webgl-firefox-ubuntu/ however, unable find parameter named ' webgl.osmesalib ' in about:config section? has been removed (or renamed)? if yes, how should instruct firefox use mesa's software acceleration webgl? looks support osmesa removed in favour llvmpipe.
