c# - Does SQL Azure automatically geo-replication automatically failover? -

we have geo-replicated database in sql azure (premium) , wondering if pointing south central database master, if goes down have manually change our connection strings in our code (c# .net / entity framework 6) point new database in north us? looking way have single connection string , azure under covers point new database if master ever goes down. possible?

update on method followed:
read have manually go web.config file on production system when region goes down , change main database replicated database working.

i decided hard code east, west , south regions in web config , wrote code retry , fail on other regions if main 1 couldn't reached. means can read, not write until microsoft or manually failover master read active slave. not best experience me. requires human intervention knowing it's down, flipping , custom code

you should read article designing cloud solutions disaster recovery using active geo-replication

there few options on how setup azure availability. so, based on requirements , configuration, may need change sql connection string. key in article @ "sla". example, in option 2: active-active compute decoupled failover, sla is:

rto = sql connection change + database state change + application verification test

notice sql connection change; implies connection string change.
